Great piece here on traditional shirt styles in the UK and US. I see plenty of US businessmen wearing button-down Oxford shirts, but I can't say I see many English businessmen wearing a Tattersall shirt ( more information here ), although I agree it's a very English style.

Personally I really like a slim button-down collar, but would never wear one with a tie. But who could resist the Tattersall combination in the picture below. Looks to me like a perfect combination of English tradition and modernity, and would work with or without a tie.
