Whilst we're on the subject of Brutralism, we're really happy to see that Preston Bus Station has been listed by English Heritage. 'Listed' status means the building may not be demolished, extended, or altered without special permission from the local planning authority, which typically consults the relevant central government agency, particularly for significant alterations to the more notable listed buildings. Whilst this doesn't prevent the building being demolished or 'improved', it does reduce the chances of this happening, as there would need to be wide public consultation first.
